I started my journey into Improvisational comedy from storytelling and therefore enjoy long form improv a lot! After co-founding Improv Comedy Bangalore and performing at the Chicago Improv Festival, I took up writing full time, because I believe Improv and writing are synergistic with each other.
I therefore use a lot of screenwriting techniques, tropes while performing and teaching.
I currently write for Bollywood and am a screenwriter by profession. I swear by the series True Detective and therefore as a tribute to its writing Nasir and I perform Screw Detective – An improvised murder mystery.
Nasir’s first step into improv came by signing up for a 2 day workshop in 2010 in Mumbai. Its been 11 years since that day and he has professionally been performing, teaching and directing improv properties in India.
In 2015, Nasir co-founded Improv Comedy Bangalore (ICB) which became India’s most sought-after improv company and headed it for 5 years. He was responsible for creating a culture of performance and appreciation for the art of improv in the city of Bangalore, India.
In 2018, Nasir founded and directed India’s first and only improv international festival – the Bengaluru Improv Fest with participation from over 15 countries and 100 artists. In 2019, he did the same with a second edition of the festival.
Today, Nasir’s improv extracts from and expands into different disciplines namely performance, acting, storytelling, comedy, social relationships and self-growth.
